Gracious Father, Heavenly Kind: Week 2

Questions

  • What stood out to you from this message?

  • Read Galatians 3:26-29 and 4:4-7. Underline or make note of any relational terms, such as “children,” “son,” or “daughter.”

  • Reread Galatians 3:27. What does it mean to be “clothed with Christ?”

  • How do you see God as a Father? What aspects or characteristics make a good father, and how does God exceed those qualities?

  • You have been adopted in the family of God. He becomes our Father; not like a Father. The Spirit is inviting us to call God, Abba, Father. How does this change your view of God?

  • What do you think it means that God can be both a gracious Father, and also a heavenly King? He is not just one of these things. He is both. What does this mean for you personally?

Spiritual Practice

Scripture: In his message, Adam challenged us to memorize these words about God. Make an effort to memorize this verse this week. Write it down and put it somewhere you see it every day. Take a photo and make it the background on your phone.

God sent his Son so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Galatians 4:5-6
