Questions

  • Read Romans 12:1-2 in the NIV translation, then read it again in the Message translation. Using both of these translations, describe what Paul is saying here. What stands out to you from this passage?

  • Paul tells us to “offer [our] bodies as a living sacrifice.” What do you think it means to be a “living sacrifice”?

  • What does Paul say is the benefit of presenting our bodies as living sacrifices?

  • God isn’t looking for us to give a sacrifice. He wants us to be a sacrifice. Describe the difference between giving a sacrifice and being a sacrifice for God.

  • What are some practical ways that you can bring God into the other areas of my life?

Spiritual Practice

Prayer: There are 168 hours in a week. But we’re only spending one hour of that in church. There are 167 other hours in a week that we could be giving to God. Pray and ask God to be part of your 167. Make this something you pray throughout your week.
