Pray and invite God into this time with Him.
Read Esther 4:1-3. The King has made an edict to kill all Jews. This sends the Jews into a great mourning. Describe a time that you felt grief like this.
Read Esther 4:4-14. Summarize what is happening in this passage.
Mordecai reminds Esther that perhaps she was made queen “for such a time as this.” What about you? Do you believe this in your own life? Do you believe that God has a purpose for your life where you are right now? Why or why not?
Read Esther 4:15-5:8.
Esther had to come with a plan for how she was going to approach the King. She chose to pray, wait, trust, and then move. When faced with a difficult decision, what do you reach for?
Have you ever prayed and fasted before making a decision? If so, what was that experience like?
Spiritual Practice
Prayer: Think of a decision you are in the middle of right now. It might be a big decision like a career change or move, or it could be a smaller decision. Whatever it is, go to God. Follow the steps that Esther outlined. Pray. Wait. Trust. Then move.
