Ephesians Chapter 4
Read
Read Ephesians 4 as a group.
Ask
What do you think it means to “live a life worthy of the calling you have received,” like Paul mentions in Ephesians 4:1?
Paul emphasizes unity in Ephesians 4:1-16. Are you a person who brings unity or division? How so?
Read Ephesians 4:11-12. According to Paul, what is the purpose of the different gifts listed here? Even if it’s not mentioned specifically in this passage, how do you feel like God has uniquely gifted you?
In verse 14, Paul describes the person who doesn’t mature in faith. Can you relate to the feeling of being “tossed back and forth” when it comes to your faith? Who is someone you look up to as being mature in their faith?
Read Ephesians 4:17-19. By Gentiles, Paul is referring to the non-Christian. What else is Paul describing here?
Do you think it’s possible to lose sensitivity to sin? Have you ever found that to be true in your own life? What do you currently call right that God says isn’t good?
Summarize verses 22-24 in your own words. Reflect on the impact of these verses in your life. What characteristics of your old self do you need to let go of? In the same way, what aspects of your new self in Christ do you need to embrace?
Of verses 25-32, which challenge from Paul do you most need to hear?
Pray
As a group, pray for strength and self-control for whatever was answered in the previous question. Pray also for anything else that stood out to you from these questions.
