You Promised Week 7

Questions

  • Pray and invite God into this time with Him.

  • God never promises that life will be easy. Have you ever faced a difficult time in life but understood what God was revealing to you through it?

  • Read PSALM 9:9-10. What is the promise given in this passage? How does it make you feel?

  • Heaven isn’t promised to everyone. Read John 11:25-26. What is the real promise of Heaven that comes from Jesus’s own mouth in this passage? Does this realization bring more importance to how you express your faith to others?

  • People are imperfect. Churches are full of imperfect people, leading to imperfect churches. With that information, how do you find the church that is right for you?

  • Sometimes in life, God doesn’t give us a definitive answer. Read John 13:7. God’s promise is not in always giving you answers, but in growing your character. What is a moment in your life when you waited for an answer from God and never got one? Did you ever understand why He didn’t answer? Did it help you grow?

  • What is a moment in your life that God has shown power and purpose through your pain?

Spiritual Practice

Reflection: Think about the questions above. What is God revealing through your hardships in life? Does knowing that not everyone is going to go to Heaven change how you express your faith? How do you navigate the fact that all churches are imperfect? What is God showing through His silence to a question you ask? What power and purpose has God given you through your painful experiences?

Prayer: Spend time in prayer over what you just reflected on. Pray for God to reveal the unseen things in your life. Pray for God to give you clarity on any of the questions you did not have an answer for. Pray that He opens your ears to what he is truly promising in your life and not what the world says he promises.
