Mark: Week 1

Questions

  • Read Mark 1:1-11. What stands out to you from this passage?

  • Look again at Mark 1:1-3. The author of Mark is quoting the prophet Isaiah who is talking about John the Baptist. What do you think it means to, “prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him?”

  • Read Mark 1:8. What do you think it means that Jesus will baptize us with the Holy Spirit?

  • When gold is refined, it is first put in a very hot oven of more than 1900 degrees Fahrenheit. Any impurities come to the surface and are removed from the gold. Considering what it means to refine gold, what does it look like for us to be refined?

  • Where in your life do you need to be refined?

  • What do you need to do to prepare your heart for Jesus? What areas of your life do you need to clean out so Jesus can get to it?
