Cleaner/Groundskeeper

FULL-TIME, 40 HOURS/WEEK OR PART-TIME, 20 HOURS/WEEK

The Cleaner / Groundskeeper at Embrace Church will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, excellent, and welcoming environment for our staff, attendees, and guests. This position is responsible for both the interior and exterior upkeep of the church property, ensuring that all areas are well-maintained, clean, and inviting. The role involves regular cleaning tasks, groundskeeping duties such as mowing and snow removal, as well as occasional minor maintenance work.

Responsibilities

  • Interior Cleaning:

    • Building Cleaning: Clean and maintain excellent environments in all interior areas of the church, including hallways, offices, meeting rooms and common spaces.

    • Bathrooms: Regularly clean and disinfect bathrooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels, etc.).

    • Windows: Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces throughout the building to maintain a bright and welcoming environment.

    • Floors: Vacuum carpets and sweep/mop floors throughout the facility. Address any spills or stains promptly.

    • Trash Removal: Empty trash cans in all rooms and areas, ensuring they are replaced with clean liners. Dispose of waste in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Exterior Groundskeeping:

    • Lawn Care: Regularly mow and trim the lawn, ensuring the exterior grounds are tidy and well-kept throughout the year.

    • Snow Removal: In the winter months, remove snow from walkways, parking lots, and entrances to ensure safe access to the church.

    • General Grounds Maintenance: Ensure the exterior grounds are free of debris, leaves, and litter. Maintain any flower beds, shrubbery, and other landscaping features as needed.

  • Miscellaneous Duties:

    • General Repairs: Assist with minor maintenance or repairs as needed (e.g., light bulbs, door handles, etc.).

    • Special Events Support: Assist with preparing the building for special events (e.g., setting up or breaking down for events, additional cleaning before/after events).

    • Supply Management: Monitor and replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies to ensure there is always an adequate stock available.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience in building cleaning, groundskeeping, or janitorial work preferred, but not required.

Skills

  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and lawnmowers.

  • Basic knowledge of groundskeeping and snow removal practices.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed (e.g., trash bags, cleaning supplies).

  • Ability to bend, squat, and lift to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and snow.
